Executive Chairperson, Cllr. Alexandra K. Zoe

An Act of Legislature established the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) on August 28, 2008. It was later amended on July 22, 2022, to extend the body of commissioners to seven with the mandate to investigate, monitor and prosecute acts of corruption, as well as educate the public about the ills of corruption and the benefits of its eradication. Cllr. Alexandra K. Zoe is the Executive Chairperson of the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC). Her position oversees the broad mandate and functions of the LACC to implement appropriate measures and undertake programs geared toward investigating, prosecuting and preventing acts of corruption, including educating the public about the ills of corruption and the benefits of its eradication. Cllr. Zoe has over nine years of experience in the legal field.

Cllr. Zoe was born, raised, and educated in Monrovia, Liberia.  She holds a Bachelor of Law Degree (LLB) from the Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law, University of Liberia, 2011, (Cum laude), as well as a Master of Arts degree in Political Science/International Relations from the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida School of International Relations, University of Liberia 2016, (with distinction).  She also holds a Bachelor of Business Administration, BA (Management) and an Associate of Arts degree from the Stella Maris Polytechnic (2008).

She is a Counselor at law of the Supreme Court of Liberia with over nine (9) years of Commercial and Corporate and Criminal law experience. She is currently the president of the Rivercess Bar Association.

She has worked as Head of the Legal Department and Company Secretary of the Guaranty Trust Bank (Liberia) Limited. She has served as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Liberia Telecommunication Corporation, LTC Mobile Company.

Before coming to the LACC, Cllr Zoe worked as an Associate Partner at Zoe and Partners Law Offices. She is currently an Executive member of the Liberia National Bar Association.  

Leadership and Vision

Cllr. Zoe firmly believes tackling corruption requires a multifaceted approach encompassing rigorous enforcement, preventative measures, and active public engagement. Her leadership philosophy revolves around fostering a culture of ethical conduct within the LACC and advocating for greater transparency in all endeavours. She recognizes the importance of partnerships and collaboration in the fight against corruption. She is committed to working closely with law enforcement agencies, the judiciary, civil society organizations, and international bodies. She says the LACC will share knowledge, resources, and best practices to drive meaningful change.
