LACC Releases Second List of Exit Declarations for Public Officials
Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) is publishing today, the second listing of asset declaration for Appointed Exiting Government Officials.
It can be recalled that the first listing was released on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, and as stated in our press release, this is an ongoing exercise for which the listing will be updated and published at least weekly until the entire exit declaration process is concluded.
The LACC notes that as the term of the outgoing government ends on January 22nd, 2024, the Commission remains committed to the ongoing publication of names of Compliant and Non-compliant exiting public officials.
The LACC is again encouraging all exiting public officials who have not yet declared their assets to immediately proceed to the LACC and declare, as possible sanctions await them.
Meanwhile, the LACC wishes to inform all newly inducted members of the 55th Legislature that section 10.2 of the code of conduct as amended, section 5.2 (o) and section 4.1(g) of the New LACC Act of 2022, designates the Liberia Anti-corruption Commission (LACC) as the repository for the asset declaration and verification regime of the Government of Liberia.
Additionally, section 10.1 of the code of conduct of 2014, requires every Public Official and Employee of Government involved in making decisions affecting contracting, tendering or procurement, and issuance of licenses of various types, to sign performance or financial bonds and in addition to declare his or her income, assets, and liabilities PRIOR to taking office.
In view of the above, the LACC calls on all newly inducted members of the 55th Legislature, to immediately proceed to the commission and declare his or her assets in keeping with law.
